Belly Dance Network began with a passion and a purpose — to create a vibrant hub for belly dance enthusiasts worldwide. My name is Amanda and I am the founder of Belly Dance Network. I’m here to share with you the main reasons why I decided to form a belly dance community back in 2017. Let’s jump in!
1. Facilitating Access to Belly Dance Events: One of the primary motivations behind creating Belly Dance Network was to make it easier for dancers everywhere to discover and participate in belly dance events. Whether it’s workshops, performances, or cultural festivals, having a centralized platform helps dancers stay connected and informed about upcoming opportunities. I was regularly struggling to find belly dance events while traveling and decided to fill this gap!
2. Empowering My Own Event Hosting: Personally driven by a desire to host my own belly dance events, I wanted to create a business that allowed me to curate and organize gatherings that celebrate this beautiful art form. I started hosting dance workshops once a year with Ahmed Hussien. I first studied with Ahmed at a workshop in Orlando and although I had been dancing for 10 years, I was challenged in a way I had never been before! His event was the first to inspire me to host my own events.
3. Sharing High-Quality Content: The network is committed to spreading the beauty and artistry of belly dance through curated, high-quality content. From instructional videos to performance highlights, showcasing diverse styles and techniques fosters appreciation and understanding of this ancient art form. We do this primarily through Instagram, which we started in 2017. Our following has grown slowly to over 63,000 followers since that time. No doubt about it… bellydance is beloved around the world!
4. Building a Global Community: Belly Dance Network aims to unite dancers from all corners of the globe. Traveling can often be daunting, but with a supportive community of like-minded individuals, dancers can find companionship and collaboration wherever their dance journey takes them. We are working to rebuild our online community and membership features on our website, but we continue to connect with other dancers on social media via our page, @BellyDanceNetwork.
In essence, Belly Dance Network is more than just a website or a social media page; it’s designed to celebrate and elevate belly dance on a global scale. Whether you’re looking to connect with fellow dancers, discover new events, or simply immerse yourself in the beauty of belly dance, you’ll find a welcoming home in the Belly Dance Network community.
Join us as we dance, share, and inspire together!
